1 in 5 children and young people now have a probable mental health condition.
Please just think about that for a moment.
For every classroom of 25 children, there will be a at least 5 children who are, or will be struggling with their mental health at some point.
Children and young people should not have to face these kind of issues alone, nor should they denied the access to knowledge and understanding of how their body and brains work, in regards to their overall wellbeing.
Mental health education should be a compulsory core subject for any school curriculum, but unfortunately, it is not.
We don't believe there is a one size fits all for mental health education and support (as we are sure every teacher who has many different personalities in their classrooms will agree) - however, we can make sure our children and young people have the best head start possible!

Why choose us for your school?
There are so many companies and organisations out there offering mental health support for schools, and we get it, they all sound great, and probably do, in their own way, benefit children and young people. But, as we mentioned before, we aren't about that "one size fits all" approach.

Firstly, although we do have six set modules that we deliver to every school as part of our program - these modules are revised and adapted to each new set of students, based on the information that is given to us by the parents, teachers and staff that work closely with these children and young people.
Most importantly, our school program has been designed, and is delivered by an experienced child and adolescent psychotherapist, so not only is the content derived straight from years of working with children with mental health issues, they are also on hand for involvement in a supportive, or advisory capacity during any critical incident events, or safeguarding issues that may arise during the program.

Finally, we also offer a staff and parent support session following the 6-week program, which will help build on the work we have done with the children and young people, and ensure that teachers, parents, and caregivers, can compliment the education and knowledge the children and young people have obtained, and reinforce it in their school and home settings.
What does our program look like?
**The program/workbook is always adapted age appropriately for the students we are delivering to.**

Our six modules are as follows:

Learning the lingo
The cognitive triangle
That funny old thing called life
Me, myself and I
Relationships - the good, the bad and the ugly
My mental health toolbox

We very much believe that learning about mental health and practicing the skills we teach should be fun, so, to ensure students stay engaged, our modules are delivered as interactively as possible. We understand that children and young people can be a tough crowd, so we strive to make sure we see lots of laughter, enthusiasm, and energy in that classroom to keep them interested.
Following the program, children and young people will posses the resources to help them identify and articulate their own feelings to adults, hopefully feel at ease talking about mental health and sharing the information and strategies they have learnt, but most importantly, gain the confidence to use the toolkit taught in the sessions to help look after their own mental health and wellbeing.

What are the benefits of our program?
1. Reduce the psychological distress that children and young people experience as a result of facing a range of challenges and difficulties

2. Offer a dedicated and safe space to talk about difficulties independently and without judgment

3. Help children and young people learn effective strategies and support them in becoming more resilient

4. Help develop positive self-esteem, confidence, social skills and good mental health

5. Improve engagement in learning

6. Reduce the stigma around mental health

7. Provide insight and guidance for school staff on supporting children and young people

8. Facilitate an important link between school, families and other specialist agencies.
Aside from this 6-week program, there are many creative ways in which we can help enrich your school community within the area of mental health and wellbeing. The list of possible activities is long and could include giving assemblies, delivering mental health first aid training to staff, running supportive groups, providing a drop-in clinic for students, and educating and supporting parents and carers - after all, it takes a village to raise a child!

Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to come out to your school to discuss your individual requirements.
